P.K. Subban was moved to New Jersey, J.T. Miller is now a Canuck and the Leafs paid the price to shed Patrick Marleau.

Well what a couple of days. I do enjoy this time of year.
More so this year than others as I am able to catch up on everything all at once (hello knee reconstruction). Happy with some size being drafted. Surely there are enough lavender sniffers (do love that term) on the hawks already.
Time will tell on the picks, and hopefully a few more moves to come.... |

I would argue the Leafs got off cheap but that is just me. May have something to do with watching 3 Cup teams get dismantled to varying degrees due to the cap. |

Probably a bit of SPAM, but it's offseason, convo with Elbows continued.
I think UNTIL his last 3 starts, he was on his way to Chicago. This tailspin started when Hahn decided to mouth off about when they would bring him up. Just STFU. Let the kid pitch and when it's time, call him up.
Baseball is mental and I am sure Dylan was thinking about coming to the bigs. This dude has a high 90s heater, a Dwight Gooden esque curve and a change that's developing. Keep it clean between his ears. |

As far as I know they haven't actually been signed, but if the rumors are true that Toronto is going to re-sign both Kapanen and Johnsson in the $3.5M range - WOW that's a great deal for Toronto. We'll see what actually happens. |

I thought a having to include a 1st round pick to get rid of a guy with 1 year left is steep.
Looking ahead, it really hinders the Leafs at the TDL next year if they are in the hunt and looking to add a key piece - they wouldn't have a 1st rounder to include to acquire a big fish for the playoffs like they did this year and the Hawks did a few times during their run(s). |

Based on what I've heard, I think it's because of the logjam on D, coupled with the fact that the UFA class is weak.

Sure. Its a conditional pick for one and most likely in the mid 20's. For comparison, the Hawks had to give up an NHL player in TT to rid themselves of Bickell. |

Nah, I'm on the Nikita Gusev bandwagon. He's a great scorer, a 26 year old Russian playing his first season in N.A., a right handed LW ... pretty similar to a certain #72 that used to play opposite Patty Cakes. Take Clarkson's LTIR contract off their hands and put Gusev at LW with Toews and Kane.
